If your iPad issue is covered under our warranty or consumer law, you won’t pay a fee. Otherwise, repairs are considered out of warranty (and not covered) when:
- Your iPad is over one year old.
- Your iPad screen gets broken accidentally.
- Your iPad has other accidental damage or issues caused by unauthorized modifications.
If your iPad issue isn’t covered, you’ll pay an out-of-warranty fee unless your iPad has AppleCare+ coverage. AppleCare+ includes two incidents of accidental damage. You might be able to use one of those incidents for a cracked screen or for other damage to your iPad. Each AppleCare+ incident has a service fee, as shown.

These prices apply to repair or replacement made by Apple. Pricing and terms might vary at other service providers. All prices are in U.S. dollars and are subject to tax. We’ll add a $6.95 shipping fee if we need to ship your iPad. Your replacement iPad will be new or equivalent to new. If the issue with your iPad was caused by severe damage from an accident or from abuse, you might have to pay the full replacement value.
How long will it take?
After you send in your iPad for service, you’ll receive a replacement or your repaired iPad in three to five business days. A replacement iPad will be new or equivalent to new in both performance and reliability. If your iPad was engraved by Apple, it could take up to two weeks.
What does it cost?
Repair and replacement costs depend on your iPad model and your AppleCare product coverage. Accidental damage isn’t covered under the Apple One Year Limited Warranty.
AppleCare+ covers two incidents of accidental damage, each with a $49 service fee. You can also use our Express Replacement Service to get a replacement even before sending us your iPad. You can check if you have AppleCare+ by entering your iPad serial number.
